The Impressionist’s Tree #4: Guy Rose Oak
This painting, a master study of Guy’s Rose’s 1916 painting, “The Oak,” has been considered the fourth entry in what has become the very popular “Impressionist’s Tree Series.” Although it is not an original Sargenti composition and is merely a study of a great master’s work, the painting was purchased before it was even dry, fresh off the artist’s easel. The impressionism series itself set about defining a new period in the career of the artist and is said to have announced his arrival into what has now become his signature style of painting in oil.
